Salem’s maritime history meets the magic of the sea at The Sea Wych Salem, a one-of-a-kind shop dedicated to sea and water witchcraft in the heart of downtown. Now located at 131 Essex Street, this woman-owned shop specializes in sea and water witchcraft, offering handcrafted gifts, magical supplies, workshops, and experiences inspired by the ocean.

The Sea Wych Salem is owned by Phe, a practicing sea witch with more than 20 years of experience in her craft. After traveling around the world, Phe found a home in Salem, drawn to its rocky beaches, historic waterfront, and welcoming community. Her connection to the ocean is at the heart of the business, which she created as a place for visitors and practitioners alike to explore sea and water magic.

Inside the shop, visitors will find a collection of handcrafted goods, ritual tools, and coastal-inspired gifts. Browse crystals, seashells, jewelry, candles, incense, books, tarot and oracle decks, teas, and more. Many of the items are made by Phe herself, while others come from small businesses and independent makers. The Sea Wych Salem emphasizes ethical sourcing, with materials gathered locally or obtained from suppliers who take care to avoid harming the natural environment.
Among the shop’s signature offerings are Phe’s handcrafted spell kits, designed around specific intentions and assembled with carefully selected shells, crystals, salts, herbs, candles, and other materials. Visitors can also explore witch bottles, created during moon phases and tides appropriate to their intended purpose, and decorative shell bowls made from large surf clam shells gathered along local beaches. These one-of-a-kind pieces offer a distinctive souvenir of Salem’s coastal character.

For visitors interested in creating something of their own, The Sea Wych Salem offers a hands-on experience at its walk-in spell jar bar. No appointment is needed to stop in and assemble a personalized spell jar using materials selected for your chosen intention. It’s an opportunity to explore the practice of spell crafting and leave with something you made yourself. DIY spell jar kits are also available to purchase for those who would prefer to create one at home.
The shop also hosts Sea Witch Ball Workshops, where participants learn about the history and lore of witch balls before creating their own. Traditionally associated with protection, these decorative pieces are the focus of a guided workshop that combines storytelling, instruction, and hands-on crafting. Each session includes materials, step-by-step guidance from Phe, and a private shopping opportunity with 10% off purchases in the store. Optional ritual kit add-ons are also available, and private workshops can be arranged for groups.

Beyond crafting, The Sea Wych Salem offers tarot and oracle readings, meditation sessions, and classes throughout the year. Walk-in readings are generally available during regular shop hours, while workshops and special events typically take place outside those hours. Visitors can check the shop’s events calendar for upcoming opportunities.

Whether you’re an experienced practitioner, curious about sea witchcraft, or simply looking for a unique locally made gift, The Sea Wych Salem welcomes visitors to explore its collection and discover a different side of Salem’s maritime connections.
