Tucked into a stately 1879 sea captain’s mansion on Salem’s Lafayette Street, The Coach House is a boutique hotel where 19th-century character meets modern comfort. Every room is individually designed to honor the building’s history, with vintage artwork, curated décor, and thoughtful modern touches, so no two stays feel quite the same.

Because the property doesn’t offer cribs, roll-aways, or extra beds, it’s best suited to adult travelers and couples rather than young families.

Choose from five room styles to match your trip: the Classic Queen, King Suite, Queen Suite, Full Suite, and the spacious 450-square-foot Luxe Queen Suite that sleeps up to four. Guests receive complimentary Jaho Artisan Coffee vouchers to start each morning, plus a text-based concierge (7 AM to 7 PM daily) ready to help plan tours, dinners, and reservations. This is a private, self-check-in property, so you arrive on your own schedule, with housekeeping and concierge support throughout your stay. Early check-in and late check-out are available as add-ons.

Salem is a quintessential walkable city, and The Coach House puts you in the middle of it. Stroll to the Peabody Essex Museum, The Witch House, the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, the House of the Seven Gables, and the waterfront at Salem Maritime National Historic Site, plus dozens of restaurants, cafés, and independent shops. Getting here is easy: the commuter rail reaches Boston’s North Station in about 30 minutes, a seasonal ferry connects to Boston’s Long Wharf in roughly 50 minutes, and the on-demand Salem Skipper minibus makes getting around town simple. On-site parking is available first come, first served.

Accessibility
The Coach House is a designated historic property and does not have an elevator. Guests who are unable to manage stairs may request a lower-floor room, subject to availability.
